Welcome to Cragganmore Holiday Cottage

* New website coming soon!

Cragganmore is a beautiful 3 bedroom property perched on Scotland’s spectacular southern coastline. Having been completely refurbished, the property offers the perfect getaway, situated at Carrick shore, a private, protected area of significant beauty.

About Us: Cragganmore is owned and run by Kerr & Caroline and their son and his wife, Duncan & Vicki. We first set eyes on Cragganmore in may 2014 and fell in love straight away with the property, but also with Carrick itself. From the moment you leave the main road, you switch off, relax and forget about the outside world. It’s a very very special place. We live next to the coast on the far side of fleet bay, just 15 minutes away, but Carrick is still our escape.

About Carrick: Carrick shore enjoys a unique, protected rural setting and provides a hideaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Situated only 3 miles from gatehouse of fleet, the safe Carrick shore is a place of unspoilt natural beauty boasting picturesque beaches and secluded coves. This haven of peace and tranquillity reflects in its way the overall beauty and charm of the area. There are many lovely walks to be had at the beach and around Carrick shore and visitors can also enjoy swimming, sailing, windsurfing or canoeing in the bay. Those less energetic can relax and enjoy the peace, meet up with friends and have a barbecue. There is a wealth of first-class visitor attractions and superb restaurants all within a short drive of Cragganmore.

HOW TO FIND US

Cragganmore is located at Carrick shore, about 5 miles from Gatehouse of Fleet. Carrick shore is not signposted and although sat nav’s will bring you to the rough area of the property, please make sure you print the below directions before you travel.

From the East: Travel east on the a75 from Gretna towards Stranraer. Stay on the A75, passing Dumfries, Castle Douglas & Twynholm. Your next village you’ll pass the signs for will be Gatehouse of Fleet, signposted on the right-hand side. You should pass the first turning for Gatehouse of Fleet, remain on the A75 for a further 200 metres and take your next turning on the left, signposted to Sandgreen. Follow this road for a few miles until you come to a 90 degree right hand bend with a small track leading straight on in front of you. Take this track, drive slowly as there are some potholes. As you weave along the coastline you will pass a few properties on the right-hand side and a drive on the right with some signs saying “the hut” & “shore road” keep going and take the next right, only 20 metres further. As you take the road on the right, you’ll climb a small hill and directly in front of you will be Cragganmore. Either park on the left or open the gate and park on the gravel drive.

From the West: Travel west on the A75 from Stranraer towards Dumfries. Stay on A75 passing Newton Stewart & Creetown and you will eventually pass a sign on left hand side for Gatehouse of Fleet. Do not take this turning, remain on A75 and the left-hand carriageway will turn into 2 lanes. Stay in the outside lane as you climb the hill through the trees. As the trees clear you’ll see a turning to the right signposted Sandgreen and Cream o’Galloway. Move into the turning lane and take this turning. Follow this road for a few miles until you come to a 90 degree right-hand bend with a small track leading straight on in front of you. Take this track – drive slowly as there are some potholes.

When the road is flooded: Please be aware that the road which leads from the a75 (signposted Sandgreen) can flood in extreme weather. The area prone to flooding is just 100 metres down this road and is marked with a large white depth ruler on the right-hand side of the road. We drowned our car here in 2014, so please don’t risk it if there’s lying water or you’re in a 4×4. Just follow these diversion directions. Turn around and return to the A75. Turn right, joining the dual carriageway climbing the hill. Stay in the middle lane, taking your first right turn, signposted to Kirkcudbright. Take this turning and continue for about half a mile. As the road bends to the left, take the right turning on the bend and follow this road for quarter of a mile. Take your next right turn. Follow this road for a mile and a half, passing a farm and farm buildings on your right-hand side. Immediately after the farm you’ll see another turning on the right, which may be signposted to Cream o’Galloway. Take this turn and continue past Cream o’Galloway to the t junction at the end of the road. At the t junction, turn left and continue for 1.5 miles until you come to the 90 degree right hand bend with the track in front of you. Follow the directions as above.

In an emergency (if you’re really lost) call Duncan on 07966 506873! Or ask a friendly farmer!
